Just a little bit of history, Hands Percussion has been around for sometime now since 1997. This year is their 10th Anniversary hence it’s something special for them and everyone else. Not to mentioned that they even won a few BOH Cameronian Arts Awards in 2004. Needless, to say they another great example of “Malaysia Boleh” spirit! Aren’t proud to be Malaysian…
They started of with “bang” with their “Drumbeat Inferno” performance. It was magnificent to see, hear and feel the beat of the drums together with their skillfulness in handling and choreographing them altogether. In between, they were also a few good performances as well, where art meet instruments. They blend the dance and play pretty well which gives me an “eye-opener” and keeps me wondering they meaning behind each scene. According to AJ, there were supposed to have some meaning and we need to think deeper for the interpretation. For me, I was like “hmmm... it’s something new hence didn’t thought of that far yet. Maybe I’m just lacking the “art & music” feel of it”. But as the show goes on, I just started to see and understand things slightly better. As always as mentioned by JY, they will usually ends the show by leaving a good expression to the audience. This is when we get to witness a great combination of drums, skill sets and choreography. They called it, “Fruition”, the result of 10 years of sheer dedication to an art form that has evolved with this group of drummers. Again, they did well by ending it with another great “bang”….
Overall, it was another great experience especially the drumming part and last but not least, their choreography was as good.
