Understand true patriotism

here sthg i would to share with all msian out there... extracted from "The Star" paper... i found it rather interesting and very accurate... finally someone voiced it out... bravo "SHIRAZ FARUQI" from Kuala Lumpur!here goes...

"WE ARE reliving those magical moments of Aug 31, 1957, when Malaysia began its tryst with destiny. In the euphoria surrounding Merdeka, it is understandable that the visible symbols of patriotism are everywhere.

But one must remember that patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of emotion but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime.

Patriotism is a live sense of responsibility. True patriots are people who take pride in their work; who do ordinary things in an extraordinary way; who regard their work as part of worship and give it the same type of devotion; who leave the nation better than they found it.

The farmer who ungrudgingly mixes his sweat, blood and toil with the soil; the ordinary clerk who works hard and honestly; the public officer who resists bribes and inducements and puts public interest above private weal; the schoolboy who picks up litter and disposes it the right way – these are but a few of the true but unsung heroes of the nation.

In the context of a multi-racial and multi-religious Malaysia, our patriotism demands additional sacrifices. We have to transcend our differences and discover all that unites us despite much that divides us. We have to treasure the country’s cultural mosaic.

To be truly objective, we must be prepared to view things subjectively from the point of view of others who share our common national destiny but have a different heritage.

And by the blessing of God, may our country itself become a vast and splendid monument of wisdom, peace, liberty and tolerance upon which the world may gaze with admiration. "

"You Are So Blessed"

If you woke up this morning
with more health than illness,
you are more blessed than the
million who won't survive the week.

If you have never experienced
the danger of battle,
the loneliness of imprisonment,
the agony of torture or
the pangs of starvation,
you are ahead of 20 million people
around the world.

If you attend a church meeting
without fear of harassment,
arrest, torture, or death,
you are more blessed than almost
three billion people in the world.

If you have food in your refrigerator,
clothes on your back, a roof over
your head and a place to sleep,
you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank,
in your wallet, and spare change
in a dish someplace, you are among
the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are still married and alive,
you are very rare,
especially in the United States.

If you hold up your head with a smile
on your face and are truly thankful,
you are blessed because the majority can,
but most do not.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug them
or even touch them on the shoulder,
you are blessed because you can
offer God's healing touch.

If you can read this message,
you are more blessed than over
two billion people in the world
that cannot read anything at all.

You are so blessed in ways
you may never even know.

Quote of the DAY:
"The fact that we don't know this man, isn't important really. Cause his experience is our experience, and his fate is our fate. Vani tass, vani tatum, et omni i vani tass, says the preacher. All is vanity I think that's a pretty good epitaph for all of us. When we're stripped of all our worldly possessions and all our fame, family, friends, we all face death alone. But it's that solitude in death that's our common bond in life. I know it's ironic, but that's just the way things are. Vani tass, vani tatum, et omni i vani tass. Only when we understand all is vanity, only then, it isn't." - Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider

nothing special for today except tt our comp is gettin some kind of MS awards for being the best in providing customer support... therefore, almost every1 went for the event which last for ard 4hrs fr 2-6pm. yeah every1 except the technical side... ppl like me n the rest of my teammates were doom @ the office to do our coding while the marketing ppl get to enjoy themselves with the nice food, ambience, chit-chatting and at least some human-2-human interaction. come'on lah for god sake, we as a programmer already faced the monitor 8-9hrs/day, 5-6days/wk, 20-24days/mth or rather to be more specific... 288days/yr!... shouldn't we be allow some form of break or leisure time? we're not robots but human, so pls treat us like 1 :p hahahaha... not much complaining but just stating the facts... need some sort of stress reliever, panadol can't help but shouting it out aloud, does help a little! but dun tink it's a gd weather to travel since the weather look extremely hot...

MOMENTS IN LIFE!

There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real!

When the door of happiness closes, another opens; but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one, which has been opened for us.

Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away.

Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.

Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

Don't count the years-count the memories......

@ Work *yawn* *tired* *sleepy*

where was i??? hahaha...been hibernating...

yeah, haven't touched my blog for ard 3wks... where was i? i guess the onli decent ans i could come up with rite now is "hibernating..." the actual fact is yet to find out... will let u noe once i find out yeah... ahahaha... okok... been thinking hard for the past 3wks... to get my objective/aim/purpose/goal straight to the point... "self-realization" i would say but to be more specified, you may term it as "self-satisfaction"... different ppl, different point of view! watever it is, the point here is to "find out" loh... yeah it's tt simple! ok enuff of the craps, time to move on with my life... can't elaborate much on tt yet coz as wat i just said, still looking for the ans... *back to my hibernation once again!* will try to post sthg once in a while loh... i guess it's inapproriate just to go MIA while i'm sorting out my personal stuffs... ehehehe... gtg now, cheerio 'n' hav a wonderful weekend!

yum... yum... weekend is around the corner!

time flies man... every week after week... when comes monday, we look forward that miserable week but when comes friday, we look forward to that wonderful weekend we'll be having... hmmm... how many of urs just leave their life just like that? i guess many just treat it as a way to past their time and their existance in this life is to just get everything passed by smoothy and according to their wishes... well, as for me, i find it meaningless if we just let each week passes by just like that... life will be meaningless too... alwiz try to achieve or learn sthg new each day or each weekend to ensure that i'm alwiz on the edge and by doing so, i can feel more satisfaction and achievement... BUT for the past few months, my life have been kind of slow... not much progress or much have been achieved except to be a like "dog" listening to the "master"(my life) and follow it where it takes me... sounds very absurd... haih... sigh... guess it's never too late for a change... coz it's now or never!!!

reaLLY touching... a REAL fighter... my role model...

hmmm... while waiting for my .NET 2003 installations, i came across this article on thestar.com.my under lifestyle. guess wat? after reading it for ard 15mins, i was touched by it and can't help it but to blog it... real touching stories and good inspiration for anyone whether u r on her side or not, we should look into our life as how she does hers... real hero and admirable fighter... although, she's bound to her wheelchair for the rest of her life, but her high-spirit and zest for life are more than enough to make anything impossible to possible. yeah, haven't been showing my other side, which is havin admiration towards the "true heroes" of yesterday, today and tomorrow... shouldn't make neither my work nor my life as an excuse but blame on myself lacking in self-disciplined. i got a bad feeling abt tis coz i'm afraid if i continue to be so, it'll be my greatest downfall or maybe i'll never find out wat is my true capability... confusing? let it be... coz it's part of me and not sthg which could be understood easily... back to our topic, yeah the hero i'm talking abt is "Ras Adiba Radzi" who was a former newscaster for TV3... does her name ring any bell? she was 1 of the best newscaster durin her peak time but due to her accident, her dream job was taken away fr her as though as shutting her from breathing... but her determination and will to succeed that puts all us in "shock"... "nothing can stop a person from advancing or succeeding except yourself"... according to her. well i hope that is enuff to get all of excited and read further from the link i provided. whether is for her or not, it's really sthg worth reading... although, some ppl maybe thinking that why should we read someone else struggle on life while we ourselves can't even managed our own.... hmmm... then tt person is being too sceptical... LOL... struggle or not, the most important thing is to be able to bring urself to clear with a gd sense of "self-realization" that from tt moment onwards, things wouldn't be the same anymore and that same old life principle which u hav been practising for the decades or so is all expired, then from all these, you start to learn to accept it by making subsequent changes to your life which eventually leads you to greater and highly-satisfying achievements which you yourself couldn't have imagined! this does earn a full respect from me... she deserved anything more than more future successes and achievements! look on the bright side ppl... cheers!

LOL! maybe i should giv myself a break sometimes and not too push myself too much or think too much coz i can feel tt the burden i'm puttin on myself is drivin me crazy and older not too mentioned... ahahahaha... yeah, time for a real break! for the month of aug, actually got lots of happenings... ehehehehe... lotsa of birthday parties, gua tempuring visit(if only i could make it), bowling competition, gav's moving, the mega sales, PC Fair, and many more surprises....!!! :p i guess tt's should be the rite way i should lead my life... wat's life if wasn't for all these healthy and happening activities? it'll be as dull as "gollum" life in the LOTR character. DOES ANYONE OF YOU WANT TO BE LIKE "HIM" ar? hahahaha... if so, blessed u man! yeah, b4 i signed off thanks to kennie for treating me, kel n gav to his special movie passes to watched KA for the 2nd time... but tis time rd was totally different coz we watched it on a super big screen THX cinema.. wow cool! but somehow, it's still not up to gav standard yet... he's still not satisfied wt it... really fussy man tt fella! :p ok guys n gals, enjoy the rest of the day peacefully and cheerfully! adios!

p/s: hey jen, a big "CONGRATZ" on getting your dream job! yeah tt's rite, stilly envying your milan trip... huh... :p nway, enjoy urself there! As for KY, all da best and the luck you could get for ur upcoming final exams!!! don't study hard hor... but study smart! ;)

DABA... DUUUUU!!!

JuSt aNoThEr *typical* DAY

Not much activities for the past couple of days except rushing for my CM/DM work project... Apart fr that, life seems pretty dull and boring... didn't achieved much but satisfactorily loh... LOL! the good news is looking for tis comin sunday as it's will be our "little" jenny big day... opppssss... it's not wat u tink lah... it's her graduation/convo not her weddin day... ppl tends to have the misconception that the term "BIG" day will b someone else wedding... hahahhahahah... if i were to re-label it, i'll rename it as the "ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY"... ehehehhehehehehe... huh...it's gettin hot in here coz they haven't switched on the aircon yet... :p yeah alredi logged in to my workstation since 7:45am tis morn. rather early just to avoid the hustle and bustle of the jams... guess wat, for those ppl who r living at pk/klg and travel everyday to pj/kl, it saves a huge amount of time if u just wake up 30mins earlier... yeah like wat they say, 5mins make a major diff.... whether if skipped the jams or u r stucked wt it... ok, it's time for my b/fast now! catcha! hav a great weekend ahead and enjoy urself!

Some simple yet meaningful quotes...

- Try as much as possible to be wholly alive, with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell and when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough.

- A loving relationship is one in which the loved one is free to be himself -- to laugh with me, but never at me; to cry with me, but never because of me; to love life, to love himself, to love being loved. Such a relationship is based upon freedom and can never grow in a jealous heart.

- Keep your fears to yourself, but share your courage with others.

- Forgiveness is a funny thing. It warms the heart and cools the sting.

- There is no justification without sanctification, no forgiveness without renewal of life, no real faith from which the fruits of new obedience do not grow.

- Forget about the consequences of failure. Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success.

- A friend is, as it were, a second self.

- Friendship improves happiness and abates misery, by the doubling of our joy and the dividing of our grief.

- Kind words do not cost much. Yet they accomplish much.

- Don't worry about a thing, every little thing is gonna be alright.

- Be glad of life because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars.

- Remember, always give your best. Never get discouraged. Never be petty. Always remember, others may hate you. But those who hate you don't win unless you hate them. And then you destroy yourself.

- Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.

- Fear less, hope more; eat less, chew more; whine less, breathe more; talk less, say more; hate less, love more; and all good things are yours.

- Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.

- A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.

- Of all days, the day on which one has not laughed is the one most surely wasted.

- A smile starts on the lips, A grin spreads to the eyes, A chuckle comes from the belly; But a good laugh bursts forth from the soul, Overflows, and bubbles all around.
